Greetings from Cairo

This summer I’ve traded in an ever-exciting New York City summer, (complete with free concerts, Shakespeare/opera/jazz in the park, open air-film festivals, and all the gourmet ice cream one can desire) to spend the hot months of June and July in Cairo, Egypt. After over a week in the largest city in Africa and the Arab world, I’m slowly learning about where to find the Cairene hot spots of culture and entertainment, as well. While brushing up on my Arabic, visiting the Pyramids, and niggling with my midi controller in World-Cup-broadcasting cafes (or ‘ahwas, as they’re called in Egyptian Arabic), I’m also taking a class on Middle Eastern music, training with a maestro from a local music troupe. I’m excited to bring these new perspectives and sounds to A Bit Cagey. It’s an incredibly inspirational time for me, and I’ll be sure to keep you all updated.
